Real Estate Agent
As a long-time real estate agent, I can confidently say that this job keeps you on your feet for extended periods. Some days, I am on my feet all day as I move from one property to the next, walking them in their entirety and beyond. It's a very active job that continues to roll no matter the weather, season, and even day of the week.
If you want to find a job that is hard to predict and keeps you moving, then the real estate industry might be for you. I know it has done wonders for me in allowing me to stay active and I know many peers who feel the same way.
Many older realtors are still in great shape thanks to the cardio they've gotten in each day during their professional lives. If their job was only about sitting at a desk, who knows where we'd be at this point in our lives?
Physical Therapy Assistant
A job as a physical therapy assistant is the perfect blend of activity and purpose for people who like to stay active while doing something meaningful for others. This job will require you to assist patients with regaining their mobility and reducing physical pains through exercise and activities.
You'll work with patients personally, as well as take the time to show exercises and activities that they'll be using daily in order to help improve their physical condition. Getting to help others while also being able to maintain a fairly healthy level of activity on the job is a win-win situation for those who want to stay active during their workday.
Preschool Teacher
Can you imagine a preschool teacher sitting for a few hours in a row? Neither do I. They are active and on their feet throughout the day. Preschool teachers must be attentive to kindergartners' needs.
That may include helping with feeding, toileting, and providing emotional support. They have to keep a watchful eye on children at all times to ensure their safety and well-being.
Let's not forget about play-based learning. Preschool teachers actively take part in children's play to encourage development. They sing, dance, organize games, and many, many more. I can't think of a better example of a job that keeps you on your feet.
Fitness Coach
A fitness coach is the classic on-your-feet job that most people think of when they think of high-activity jobs. Fitness trainers work with individuals and groups of people, leading them through workout routines and showing proper exercise techniques for their clients to follow.
This is a demanding job and will require just as much dedication and motivation from the trainer as it will from the clients. If you're a person who loves fitness and working with others, this may be the perfect job for you.
Professional Wedding Photographer
As a wedding photographer, I'm always on my feet! On an average day, I'm usually up before sunrise preparing before I head off to capture the special moments of a couple's wedding day. Whether I'm setting up in the bridal suite or maneuvering through crowded reception venues for that perfect shot, it's never a dull moment.
My job as a wedding photographer requires me to be quick and decisive with every movement; coming up with creative ideas on the fly so each photo is unique and memorable. The satisfaction of seeing two people enjoy their best day ever is what keeps me motivated and inspired in this field—after all these years, I still get excited when I hear those two words—“I do”. That's what keeps me on my feet every single day.
A Nurse
Nurses provide medical care and support to patients, often in high-pressure environments such as emergency rooms. They must be able to process and act on information quickly, manage multiple tasks at once, and remain composed under pressure. This makes nursing a job that keeps you constantly on your toes!
Professional Gardener
As a professional gardener, I have to say that working in people's gardens all day definitely keeps you on your feet! It's a physically exhausting job, but it's extremely fulfilling.
You get a lot of pleasure from seeing firsthand the work that you've done, as well as seeing how pleased your customers are. It takes time to physically adjust to the time spent on your feet, but thankfully, it's not always very strenuous—potting up plants or pulling up weeds gives you a chance to take a needed rest.
